Mé Lon Togo needs your help. Due to the nationwide pandemic, Mé Lon Togo, which serves authentic and homecooked West African cuisine, announced they will be closing their Waterville location. Many members of the community, including students and faculty, have begun to reach out and raise money for the restaurant’s relocation. Owner Jordan Bennison announced the closing of the Waterville restaurant on June 2nd, and several days later, a fundraiser was created to raise money. We’re hoping to help Jordan keep his business going by giving him the chance to re-open his Waterville restaurant and share his Togolese cuisine and his experience once again with the local community. Unfortunately due to the closing of Colby’s campus in response to COVID-19, we will have to cancel all programming at WMHB until further notice. I understand this is a difficult time for Colby’s community and we are all still trying to figure out what’s next. College and University Radio Stations A number of colleges and universities have announced closures related to COVID-19. Noncommercial educational stations that are not able to broadcast during these school closures will not be required to adhere to the minimum operating schedule in section 73.561 of the Commission’s rules. The Audio Division will classify these school closures as a recess period consistent with section 73.561(a). If stations do not resume broadcasts within thirty days due to COVID-19 related closures, they will not be required to notify the Commission pursuant to section 73.561(d) or to seek special temporary authority.

partnered with WMHB 89.7 FM to take our super popular weekly Arts Spotlight
newsletter and turn it into a two-hour radio show on WMHB every Friday morning!
Our awesome two-hour talk radio show will feature news on upcoming art and
community events in the greater Waterville area, host engaging interviews with
community leaders, provide some background on many of the awesome happenings
here in Waterville, and more!
On Friday
we’ll be interviewing some special guests from our area art organizations and
we’ll also be giving away free tickets to upcoming movies at Railroad Square
Cinema, theatrical shows at the Waterville Opera House, and special art events
at Common Street Arts during our two-hour show.

This year we’re going to try something new at WMHB. On October 4th, we are participating in College Radio Day! The aim of College Radio Day is to raise the profile of college radio stations across the world and encourage increased student participation in the medium of college radio. The day is also designed to encourage people who would not normally tune into their local college radio station to do so, and hopefully stay listening because they like what they hear! Above all, the day is a celebration of college radio that reminds people, on and off campus, that college radio is still alive and kicking on many campuses across the country. Melissa Weikart– Melissa Weikart is a vocalist, pianist, and composer based in Boston, MA. Her songs are playful and pensive, inviting listeners to follow twisting melodies and restless dissonances. In December 2017, she released her solo EP “Coffee” on HEC tapes, followed by the release of her live album “Testing All My Memories” in January 2019. She is currently is in the midst of recording a full length studio album.
Brittany Karlson–Bassist/vocalist Brittany Karlson is an adventurous musician with roots in jazz, American old time music, and improvised music. She has performed across the USA, Canada, and Europe in a variety of ensemble settings. Karlson performs original songs under the moniker Karl, having released debut album “Feast Day” on Lungbasket recordings in 2015 and will release upcoming album “And the Green Grass Grows all Around” in 2019. She also has a solo project involving puppeteering behind the bass.
